2 teens arrested, 1 hospitalized after chase

Bonneville County deputies chased three teenagers driving stolen vehicles early Wednesday morning.

The sheriff’s office said a deputy attempted to stop a blue car on First Street near Hitt Road shortly before 1 a.m. Wednesday. The car did not stop, but increased speed to elude the officer. The car was later reported stolen from Idaho Falls.

Another deputy spotted the car entering the Summit Park subdivision near Ammon and Iona Roads, and deputies began looking for the three people riding in it. The car was found abandoned.

Within minutes, the three had stolen a 1997 Chevy S-10 pickup, the sheriff’s office said.

A deputy attempted to stop the truck as it left the neighborhood, but it sped up on Iona Road near Bonneville High School.

With one deputy in front and one behind them, the three attempted to pass a deputy, but drove off the roadway, over-corrected, and rolled the vehicle.

Two boys, ages 14 and 16, were being held in the 3-B Juvenile Detention Center Wednesday on charges of vehicle theft. An 18-year-old man who was in the truck was hospitalized for medical treatment.
