Blackfoot Police Department holds community appreciation day

The Blackfoot Police Department held a community appreciation day at Jensen Grove Saturday. There were multiple areas to learn about various departments, including the citizens on patrol, bike patrol and animal control.

There was also a station to learn about police weaponry where people could fire air soft guns at targets.

They also had information about local gangs and how police remove gang graffiti. A demonstration was also provided that showed a car accident. The K-9 unit was also there to display how it finds drugs.

“I’d like to believe what attendees get out of it is a sense of community,” said Capt. Scott Gay. “We’re part of the community and we want to know them as much as we want them to know us.”

The police department holds this event every two to four years.
