SW Idaho city councilman facing sex charge
A southwest Idaho city councilman is facing a charge of sexual battery of a minor 16 to 17 years old.
Idaho State Police arrested Middleton City Councilman Bradley D. Spencer, 56, on Thursday, and he was booked into the Canyon County Jail around 10 p.m. Troopers said he was arrested at his place of business, which the City Council webpage identifies as a music store.
It’s not clear if Spencer has an attorney.
In a statement obtained by KBOI, city officials said “there are always two sides to every story” and expressed confidence that police and prosecutors would treat the case fairly.
“The court system will run its course and then the outcome will be known,” according to the statement. “Until then, this incident does not affect Councilman Spencer’s ability to participate in City Council and perform his duties under state law. Councilman Spencer has been active on the City Council, and his service has benefitted tremendously the residents of the city.”
ISP said it is investigating whether Spencer had other victims. If you have any information on this case, call (208) 846-7550.
