Flu season in nation starting to climb
According to Epidemiologist Ian Troesoyer of Eastern Idaho Public Health, flu season ranges from October to March, and is just starting to make its climb.
“There’s a small amount of influenza nationally but not much. Generally every year, the United States gets its peak of influenza and that usually causes a lot of people to get ill,” said Troesoyer.
He says to wash your hands before eating, don’t touch your eyes or face, and keep a distance from those who are sick. Even though, it’s sometimes difficult to avoid the flu coming from co-workers who you’re required to work in close quarters with daily.
“Workplace tidiness is also important in preventing the spread of illness…If people need those papers to do their work they should use a filing cabinet…just so your desk and cell phone can be sanitized. “
Contrary to the belief, Troesoyer says flu vaccinations do not cause the flu. However, it’s different for everyone, depending on the immune system.
