Local purified water business recognized internationally

You’ve heard of wine tastings and beer tastings – but what about water tastings?

An Idaho Falls company that makes purified bottled water has won the silver medal in the Berkley Springs International Water Tasting competition in West Virginia. The developer of Divinia Water, Steve Sedlmayr, was thrilled, especially since they’ve only been in business about six months, and they beat out competition from all over the world.

“Extremely surprised by it,” Sedlmayr said. “We were so pleased by it.”

Sedlmayr said he goes to great lengths to purify the water.

“We go through 14 steps of purification,” Sedlmayr said. “Then we send it through a patented device that I invented that actually changes the water. It changes the bonding between the oxygen and the hydrogen.”

Sedylmayr, who is a physicist and inventor, began tinkering with water purification 12 years ago when his wife couldn’t find any water she liked. Besides having an award-winning taste, Sedylmayr said his water is richer in oxygen which has health benefits. In recent months demand for Divinia Water has skyrocketed and the company is expanding into a larger facility.

More information about Divinia Water is available at the company’s website, www.diviniawater.com.
