Idaho Falls school board finalizes high school redesign team
The Idaho Falls School District #91 has selected the partnership of Hummel Architects and Alderson Karst and Mitro to lead its high school redesign project.
According to Superintendent George Boland, “This team has the experience and expertise necessary to transform our schools so they support a 21st Century education, which will engage, inspire, and prepare our students for success beyond high school.”
Hummel Architects is based in Boise and has completed three major high school renovations of similar scope and size. That work has included a restoration and renovation of Boise High School, improvements to Meridian High School, and a multi-year modernization of Twin Falls High School.
Alderson Karst and Mitro has provided architectural services in Idaho Falls for more than 27 years. The firm has completed more than 30 projects for the City of Idaho Falls including the Airport, Law Enforcement and Fire Departments.
Earlier, the school board selected Bateman-Hall as Construction Manager/General Contractor.
The team will now begin to develop preliminary concepts and cost estimates for the project. The first step will include gathering input from district and school staff, students, parents, and patrons.
The school board hopes to have that initial work complete this summer. It will then decide its next steps, which could include going to voters in November to seek bond approval to pay for the improvements.
