‘Compost Happens’ needs participants

Cleaning up your garden after the long winter can help the community look like a better place. In fact, the City of Pocatello is accepting more participants for its yard waste collection effort.

There are 45 openings available for the “Compost Happens” program.The total of participants stands at 700, which is up from 600. The program is designed to stay eco-friendly in the neighborhood, which can help get rid of your yard work waste. Such as trimmed tree branches, leaves and more. City of Pocatello Recycling Coordinator Debbie Brady says she is happy the community can be more helpful in keeping the environment clean.

“It is important to keep your garden looking nice, because that basically makes are community look healthy. So we offer a bunch of options to help keep your yard clean. We offer dumpster service they can get once every calendar year. They can book one of those to clean up their yards,” said Brady.

The charge is $5 per month, as residents will see the charge included on their City of Pocatello utility bill.
