Construction site for Meridian LDS temple vandalized

The Ada County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a case of vandalism at the Meridian Temple construction site that happened over the weekend.

The sheriff’s office says broke into the construction area between 6 p.m. Friday and noon Saturday and used black spray paint to cover walls with graffiti — including racist symbols and anti-religious messages.

The vandals also emptied tubes of construction adhesive on the walls and floors of the building, causing at least $500 worth of damage.

There have been other reports of theft at the construction site since last year – including a welding unit and an industrial saw.

The sheriff’s office asks that anyone with information call Detective Justin Elliot at (208) 577-3702.
