County Commissioner Howard Manwaring announces resignation

“Based on my current medical condition, and my inability to take care of it, without some big changes and the family personal issues that we’re dealing with, I will be taking the advice of my doctors. I am resigning as County Commissioner and Chairman. Effective as of April 18th,” said Howard Manwaring, Bannock County Commissioner.

The County Commissioners Chambers was packed Wednesday morning with a heavy heart as Commissioner Manwaring announced his resignation due to his medical condition.

After the meeting was over, city officials and friends stood up and applauded him and his long time journey in Pocatello. They hugged him and gave him words of encouragement as he had many tears in his eyes.

Chubbuck Mayor, Kevin England and Pocatello Mayor, Brian Blad sat beside him in support of his announcement. They both agreed it’s very sad to see him leave, after all the work and good he has put in for the community over the years.

“You know, when you run into someone as great as he is, it’s very difficult to replace them,” said Mayor Blad.

“It’s ultimately up to the governor on who will replace Howard, and we are within an election cycle, but someone will be elected at the end of the year, but it’s up to the governor. This is a sad day for Bannock County, Because Howard has been a real doer. I’ve had the opportunity to work on several committees with him, it truly showed how concerned Howard is. He’s going to be a hard one to replace,” said Mayor England.
