Name selected for new D93 high school

The Bonneville Joint School District #93 has selected a new name for its new high school scheduled to open in the Fall of 2018.

The D93 Board of Trustees voted in favor of the name Thunder Ridge with the mascots of Titans. The colors scheme will be black, royal blue and silver.

Thursday’s decision came after two committees, multiple surveys and countless hours, the district said in a press release.

“An advisory committee was tasked with combing through the more than 5,700 name suggestions from the community. A survey was then conducted to gauge the level of support from the community, faculty, and students for each of the selected names and mascots,” district spokesperson Phil Campbell said in the press release.

Two-thirds of people who took part in a community-wide survey selected Thunder Ridge as their first or second choice.
