California man arrested with $500,000 marijuana cargo

A California man is being held in the Bannock County jail on charges of trafficking marijuana. Nathan Thao, 37, of Fresno, California was arrested at approximately 11:25 p.m. Friday.

Idaho State Police said Thao was driving a 2016 Ford Explorer in the northbound lane of Interstate 15 about one mile north of Pocatello. During a routine traffic stop, officers discovered 125 pounds of marijuana in the vehicle.

The marijuana had an estimated street value of $500,000.

Thao was arrested for marijuana trafficking over 25 pounds.
