Trial date set for woman charged in bike crash on US-26

A trial date for Patricia Beyer, the woman accused of killing one bicyclist and seriously hurting another after a crash on U.S. 26 this summer, is set for January 27th.

Beyer is charged with one misdemeanor for vehicular manslaughter and two misdemeanor charges for failing to maintain liability insurance.

Deputy prosecutor John Dewey said the difference between felony and misdemeanor vehicular manslaughter is a determination of whether or not the incident entailed “gross negligence”.

Beyer was released on $5,000 bond after her arraignment on the charges shortly after police arrested her.
