Jackson council approves additional bike-share funding

The Jackson Town Council will find additional funding for a town-owned Bike Share network.

During meetings this week, the council unanimously approved a motion to fund up to an additional $25,000 for the installation of a community bike share program.

The funding would come from the 2010 Energy Efficiency Special Purpose Excise Tax and would be used for initial capital costs.

The Energy Conservation Works and town staff said the additional capital would achieve an estimated $40,000 reduction in the overall cost of the program over a 5-year period.
