Local construction company helps rescue stranded horse

The Bannock County Sheriff’s and a construction company teamed up to rescue a stranded horse Tuesday.

The Sheriff’s office received a call at about 9:15 a.m. Tuesday that a horse had fallen off a small cliff and was stranded on a ledge. Sheriff’s deputies and Search and Rescue crews responded to the area to help. Crews determined that the only way to get the animal out would be to create a path for it to climb on.

Enter Kevin Fay, owner of FM Construction, who had heard about the incident and offered to help out. Fay brought his company’s backhoe to the location and was able to dump rocks, dirt, and gravel into the crevice. That created a path for the horse to climb out on its own.

The Bannock County Sheriff’s office wants to thanks Kevin and the rest of the many others that helped with getting the horse out safely and back to its owner.
