School no longer employs teacher accused of hitting teen

A central Wyoming educator who was accused of hitting a 14-year-old autistic student is no longer an employee of the Natrona County School District.

District officials confirmed that Mark Brattis is not employed, but it’s unclear if he was fired or left voluntarily. District personnel documents show his employment ended earlier this month.

Marisol Villescas told the Casper Star-Tribune that her brother ran out of the high school in late October. She says school staff followed, and he began throwing rocks at them.

Villescas says the teen apparently hit Brattis who then struck the student on the face. Other teachers witnessed the incident and reported it to school administrators.

Brattis, an assistant teacher, was later suspended. Brattis did not respond to the newspaper’s requests for comment.
