Salmon air quality warning issued
The Idaho Department of Environmental Quality has issued a caution for air quality in Salmon and surrounding area.
The decision prohibits all outdoor open burning in accordance with the Rules for the Control of Air Pollution in Idaho. Homeowners are encouraged to use clean wood-burning practices or alternative heat sources, although there are currently no restrictions on woodstove burning.
Under current conditions, the department said persons in sensitive groups, including those with heart and lung disease, older adults, and children, may experience health effects. People with more serious conditions should avoid prolonged or heavy exertion and stay indoors.
Everyone else should limit heavy exertion and time outdoors.
