New Life Flight Network app could save lives

A new app can save a life. “LFN Respond” from the Life Flight Network allows first responders to share their location faster.

The app allows first responders to activate life flight and share their coordinates.

“One of the biggest things we have to offer is getting the patient to the hospital quickly. Whether you’re having a heart attack or stroke or you’re involved in a traumatic accident or are severely injured, you want to get to the hospital, trauma center or cardiac center quickly,” says Josie Magee, Customer Service Manager for Life Flight Network.

It allows Life Flight to move faster and gives first responders more time to pay attention to their patients.

“One of the biggest challenges for flight and EMS on scene is to get accurate coordinates to get us there fast,” says Magee.

“I do know in times past we’ve had to make telephone calls, radio calls, follow-up calls. And this app should take off all of those things for us. We should be able to put in our coordinates, the type of patients we have, and we should be able to focus on patient care and just wait for a helicopter,” says Troyce Miskin, Assistant Chief of EMS.

First responders say they’re excited to use the app.

“I think that technology moving us forward is going to help us as a department and the citizens that we serve so we’re looking forward to using it,” says Miskin.

Only EMS officials are allowed to use the app. Life Flight Network offers an annual membership that will cover or reciprocate the costs of life flight in case you ever need it. The annual cost is $65, and if you would like to know more about it, here’s the link to their website.

They will also have a booth at Saturday’s air show in Rexburg if you want more information.
