Bonneville School District 93 board talks future

Bonneville School District 93 board members met Wednesday night to discuss the future of the district. The agenda called for several key topics, including: a potential March bond, how to pick a new superintendent and naming the new middle school.

D93 board members took a look at a timeline for a potential bond for the March election. The potential bond will be for a new elementary school and improvements to the high schools. The district board members said there will be more meetings in the next few weeks to discuss the bond.

District 93 says another bond is necessary because of the community’s growth.

Board members also discussed how to select the new superintendent. The board would like to partner with the Idaho School Board Association and have it conduct the search.

Another meeting will be held next week to discuss more of the ISBA’s role in that.

“It really is an exciting time here in D93, with all the growth and how to facilitate that,” said Phil Campbell, the spokesperson for Bonneville School District 93. “We have a very supportive community and the board is just looking for something that the community will support. That includes bonding and includes the superintendent search. One thing is for sure. We know the community will be a factor in that whole process.”

The last key item on the agenda was naming the new middle school. School board members will put the top three names decided into a survey for patrons to choose from by vote.

Those names are Black Canyon, Ridge View and Lightning Hills.
