Haunted Attraction opens for one weekend in July

“Our goal eight months ago when we started this project was to create a big city quality haunted house, the kind of haunted house nobody would expect to find in little ol’ Idaho Falls, Idaho,” said the general manager of Planet Doom, Brent Wilson.

“I’m very proud of what we’ve done, I think we’ve succeeded at that task, and we can’t wait to show it off.”

Planet Doom is a newly re-built thirty-two thousand square foot haunted attraction that includes Hollywood quality special effects, theatrical lighting and props. 80% of the attraction has been re-built, so if you think you’ve experienced Planet Doom already, think again.

For one weekend in July, Planet Doom will open its doors, to give everyone their mid-year Halloween fix.

“We wanted to show off to the community all the hard work we’ve put in for the D.A.R.E. program before haunt season.”

One of the many great things about Planet Doom is that it is the primary funding source for Idaho Falls-Bonneville County’s Drug Abuse Resistance Education program called D.A.R.E.

“Along with the stuff about drugs and alcohol and things that are bad and not healthy for you, they teach kids about being successful and avoiding peer pressure… and to go in a healthy direction in life,” said Bonneville County Sheriff’s Department, Bryan Lovell.

The 45-minute walkthrough attraction includes 100 scare actors, a line entertainment dance team, and a carnival-style zombie brain toss.

“I will say that we have a very very dedicated crew, that just loves the heck out of haunted attractions. We don’t make any money from this, this is a labor of love.”

If you attend this weekend, do not worry, you will still be able to enjoy the attraction come Halloween season. Planet Doom has multiple props they’ve ordered that won’t be set up until the Fall, so it will be a completely different experience then.

The haunted attraction will be open this Friday and Saturday from 7-11pm.

Admission is $12 dollars per person and tickets can be bought in person or online here.
