Accused cold case killer bound to district court

Kennneth R. Jones, the man accused of murdering Stephanie Eldredge in 2007, was in court for a preliminary hearing Wednesday.

In court, Jones listened to many witnesses testify, two of those being his mother Linette Theisen and his half-brother Michael Jimenez, who were both brought in under subpoena.

In 2007, Eldredge was reported as a missing person. At the time she lived in a house in Idaho Falls with Jimenez her boyfriend whom she had a child in common with, his mother Linette and Jones.

According to court documents Jones was not being truthful when detectives interviewed him and as a result the investigation focused on him as a potential suspect in Stephanie’s disappearance.

Almost three years later on April 23, 2010, Eldredge’s body was discovered in the foothills of Idaho Falls.

According to the probable cause, “‘The cause of her death was undetermined violence with binding of the body’, her death certificate lists her death as homicide.”

“The investigation that began in 2007 and continued through 2018 developed sufficient evidence to name Kenneth Jones as the only person responsible for the murder of Stephanie Eldredge,” according to court documents.

Also on the witness stand Wednesday was Eddie Arellano a former jail mate of Jones.

In a court document and on the stand Arellano states that while they were in jail Jones confessed to the murder of Stephanie Eldredge to him.

Jones will appear in district court on August 19, 2019, where he will state his plea.
