Chaplains of Idaho hosting ‘Pet Photos with Santa’

AMMON, Idaho (KIFI) – As law enforcement serves our communities, they can experience some traumatic encounters. But there are resources out there to get them, and grieving families, help they may need.

The Chaplains of Idaho are a non profit charity with a mission to serve those in crisis. They provide chaplaincy services to law enforcement, fire and community members, especially after traumatic situations and crises.

"We support our law enforcement with death notifications and just tragic things that happen in our community. We're there for the family members," Kami Higham, with the Chaplains of Idaho, said. "We're there to support them in a time that they just need a listening ear."

Wednesday evening, they are looking to raise funds by hosting 'Pet Photos with Santa.' All types and amounts of pets are invited.

"All the proceeds... are going to support our public safety canines, and that is Sheriff, Police as well as the Chaplain canines," Chief Chaplain Christa Trinchera said. "We have six crisis intervention canines that serve in our schools. They serve at the hospitals, so any time there's a traumatic incident where maybe the human cannot make the connection, the dogs definitely can."

This Santa has traveled from California to be here and is most known for his time with Coca-Cola in commercials.

Photos are $20 and will be taken from 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Brickyard Event Center located on 10255 Ammon Road.
