AAA reminding drivers to be prepared before hitting the roads

IDAHO FALLS, Idaho (KIFI) – This summer travel season is expected to be quite busy. Before taking that road trip, AAA is reminding drivers the importance of having trusted emergency vehicle travel kits.

Here are some items AAA recommends having in your car for emergency use:

  • First Aid Kit with medications and ointments
  • Tools like a flashlight and extra batteries
  • Flares or reflectors to signal for help
  • An old towel or blanket
  • A tarp and rope
  • Protein-rich snacks like granola bars and non-perishable items
  • At least a gallon of water
  • A phone charger

If you already have an emergency travel kit in the car, AAA suggests freshening up any old medications or ointment that may be expired.

Whether taking a long or short road trip, having these items on hand can be life saving.

AAA also recommends telling a trusted friend or family member where you are headed. That way, someone may be able to figure out where you may be in emergency situations.
