Idaho Boy, 2, Shot, Killed By 3-Year-Old Brother

A 2-year-old southern Idaho boy died after being shot by his 3-year-old brother.

Minidoka County prosecuting attorney Lance Stevenson said Thursday that police in Rupert are investigating, along with state Department of Health and Welfare officials.

Stevenson said the shooting took place about noon on Wednesday in this agricultural town located about 165 miles east of Boise, Idaho’s capital.

The youngster died about 2:30 a.m. Thursday after being transported by air to a Boise hospital.

Stevenson said no charges have been filed.

Investigators haven’t released details of the shooting, including what type of weapon was used or whether adults were in the home at the time of the incident.

Stevenson wasn’t aware of any other children being removed from the home where the shooting took place.
