Shelley Man Wins Syfy’s ‘Face Off’

A man from Shelley is celebrating some national fame tonight.

Rayce Bird was named the winner of the Syfy network show ?Face Off.? On the show, contestants create special effects, masks and intricate makeup like the stuff you see on TV and in the movies.

Bird is a tattoo artist at the Spider?s Web in Idaho Falls, but he said he doesn?t like to say he?s any one thing ? he?s just a creative guy by trade.

He said he almost didn?t audition for the show.

?Going into it, I was actually intimidated because I talked to all the other guys, and they were like, ?Yeah I’ve got this much experience and I’ve worked on these shows,?? he said. ?And here I was. I didn’t do any of that, you know? So there was a part of me thinking, ?Why the heck they even let me on the show??”

Bird?s prize was $100,000, a new car and $25,000 worth of makeup.

Bird said he?s known since October that he won the contest, and he?s happy he can finally talk to people about it.
