Wind Destroys Gas Station Canopy

One man was injured after a gust of wind tore off a canopy at Valley Wide Coop in Rexburg shortly before 5 p.m. Monday.

Rexburg Police Capt. Randy Lewis says 70-year-old Warren Lamont Merrill of Sugar City suffered minor cuts to his ear, arm, and hand.

The 60- to 70-foot-long canopy, which overhung gasoline service bays, caused significant damage to two vehicles below.
