Defendant In Christmas Day Stabbing Delays Pre-Trial Conference

A high-profile Bonneville County defendant requested a delay in proceedings on Monday.

Police said 19-year-old Brent Pongyan was there when 20-year-old Buck Garner was stabbed to death at an Ammon home on Christmas Day.

Pongyan allegedly held Garner as he was stabbed.

Monday was supposed to be a pre-trial hearing for Pongyan, but his attorney requested more time.

The defense says there is still evidence they are reviewing.

Judge Dane Watkins Jr. accepted the motion, and Pongyan’s new trial date is set for June 26.
