Jordan

While adults appreciate his generally sweet disposition, good manners, and motivation to be part of a healthy family, Jordan knows that he has to continue to grow emotionally and behaviorally to be successful in an adoptive family, at school, and in the community. Fortunately, he continues to be focused on developing his ability to handle the give and take of family relationships, increasing his awareness and skills in making and keeping friends, and developing behavioral tools and strategies to help him cope in positive ways with his feelings of loss and past trauma.

Jordan’s worker is especially interested in talking with two parent families, where there is a strong, positive and nurturing male presence, to help Jordan move forward in his healing and recovery from a tumultuous childhood. Jordan is an active boy who does best when he’s kept busy with structured, well supervised activities. He especially enjoys playing team sports, which provide regular opportunities for learning to cooperate, follow directions, and acceptance of a higher authority, such as the coach. Skateboarding and riding his bike are also favorite pastimes, and he loves hanging out at a foster family’s cabin and exploring the area outdoors. While Jordan loves playing video games, he is naturally good at using his hands, whether to help with maintenance at the cabin, or building and creating with Legos and such. Jordan also is a fan of Star Wars, Super Heros, and the Avengers, and still enjoys collecting Pokeman cards. His interest in comic books has given him a huge boost forward in his reading skills.

Jordan is doing well in school now and his ability to interact with peers appropriately is improving day by day. He is currently in general education classes and is doing well with a little extra support for math. Jordan is very observant; he wants to learn and is keeping up with his homework. While he many still struggle a bit with impulsiveness, he is behaving well in class. His teachers past and present, who see traces of leadership skills in his behavior, describe him as being polite and pleasant.

Jordan is ready for a family now. He wants a family that likes to go places and do things, especially outdoor activities. Currently he is doing well with a family that provides a structured behavior plan where Jordan earns privileges for good behavior. The family also restricts Jordan sugar intake which helps him better manage his behavior. Jordon is very proud of how well he is doing and has been told he is a role model for the other children. Jordan would do well as an only child or the youngest of one or two much older siblings.
