Grand Teton Park store burns
The Signal Mountain Lodge convenience store was heavily damaged in a Tuesday morning fire.
According to a Grand Teton National Park news release, Teton Interagency Dispatch received an emergency call of a structure fire around 8:15 a.m. after a Signal Mountain Lodge employee discovered the fire in the convenience store, which is closed for the winter season. He used an extinguisher in an attempt to suppress the fire and made an emergency call for help.
Grand Teton National Park and Jackson Hole Fire/EMS personnel helped contain the fire to the convenience store. Using thermal imaging, firefighters located unseen hotspots in the building’s walls and mopped up areas with lingering heat.
The interior of the building sustained extensive smoke and fire damage. No one was hurt in the blaze.
A joint investigation is being conducted by Grand Teton National Park with the assistance of a Jackson Hole Fire/EMS investigator. Further details are not available at this time, the park said in a news release.
