Police: Woman trying to stop man from driving drunk hit by driver

An Idaho Falls man was arrested after police said he struck a woman with his car as she tried to stop him from driving drunk.

Leland “John” Brown, 32, were dispatched to the 300 block of J Street just before 1 a.m. Friday for a report of a disturbance.

Officers made contact with the 35-year-old victim. She told police that Brown and his wife and been drinking and gotten into an argument.

When Brown attempted to leave, the victim and her husband tried to stop him because he was too intoxicated to drive. Brown drove off, knocking the woman down with his car, police said.

The woman called police. Police made contact with Brown when he returned to the home shortly after leaving.

Police said Brown’s behavior was “very erratic” when officers spoke with him.

Brown was booked into the Bonneville County Jail on charges of aggravating battery and resisting arrest.
