Madison County announces centennial celebration plans

Madison County is preparing to celebrate.

The county will turn 100 years old in 2013.

Organizers announced a series of celebrations Monday, which will begin Feb. 18 with a ribbon-cutting at the Madison County Courthouse. Festivities will continue with the addition of a brand-new park, a big 4th of July parade and the county fair with carnival rides for the first time.

The fair will also feature big name performers like Sawyer Brown and Starship.

“We’re excited with many of the events that we have to commemorate all those that have built — the pioneering families — this Madison County,” said Christine Campbell, marketing director for the centennial celebration.
