Idaho Education Budget To Be Set

The 2014 Idaho Public Schools Budget will be set today in Boise, but folks anywhere in the state can listen in live this morning starting at 8 a.m.
The Joint Finance-Appropriations Committee meeting this morning could answer some big questions about the future of education in Idaho.
What percentage of increase will K-12 Education see?
Superintendent Tom Luna wants to see a 3% increase, but Governor Otter has asked for a 2% increase.
That puts the two figures at a $13 million difference.
Also, what is the fate of $34 million of earmarked money for education reform?
Because voters repealed Luna’s education reforms last November, there is no plan for how that money will be used.
Luna and some lawmakers want to make sure the money stays in education.
