Idaho Falls fire station could turn into fire museum
The Idaho Falls City Council is considering turning the downtown fire department into a museum if the fire department moves to another location.
The council will use the bay areas to make a fire museum that would include an old pump and an old 1934 ladder truck.
If considered, it could attract people to the downtown area and would keep the building original.
Dean Ellis, the Idaho Falls fire chief, said once the new fire station is designed, he will then know the cost of the station.
If approved the proposal will not be implemented until the approval of a new fire station.
