Sheriff: Man 8 years in Idaho Falls without updating sex offender info
A man who has been living in the Idaho Falls area for eight years is accused of failing to update his sex offender registration information.
Daniel George Johnston, 43, of Idaho Falls, was arrested for allegedly failing to notify in reference to change of address, a felony.
At the end of February, Michigan State Police contacted the Idaho Sex Offender Registry. Authorities from the Great Lakes State said they believed Johnston was living in the Idaho Falls area. The registry notified the Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office so it could follow up on the information.
The sheriff’s office found Johnston had been living at 1780 Balboa Apt. C in Idaho Falls. He was arrested at Motel 6 in Idaho Falls on Thursday. The sheriff’s office announced his arrest Monday.
Johnston left Michigan in 2003 and had been living in the area since 2005.
