Police: Junior high student plots against classmates, had firearms
Police said a Rigby Junior High School student was plotting to harm fellow students.
Rigby Police Department officers investigated after Jefferson County Sheriff’s dispatch received information on the situation around 10:30 Monday night.
Rigby Police Department officers investigating the incident said they found the suspect had compiled a list of people at the junior high school to hurt.
With the help of the suspect’s parents, law enforcement also discovered a bag of weapons, including firearms, at his home.
The suspect is being held at this time and is undergoing a mental health evaluation, police said Tuesday.
Jefferson Superintendent Ron Tolman said the district was working to notify all parents of the situation.
He said the district has been working closely with law enforcement throughout the investigation and has been told by police there was no immediate threat to students.
Rigby Police Department is investigating with the help of the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office.
