Jefferson County bridge closed
Jefferson County Road and Bridge has closed the county-owned Burgess Canal Bridge on Third West south of Rigby.
The action came after Idaho Transportation Department inspectors discovered a fractured girder during an inspection March 16. Jefferson County officials are considering repair options.
Traffic south of the bridge is rerouted along 200 North to North 3800 East and Idaho 48 (East 300 North).
County officials plan to replace the bridge and reopen the road this summer. They intend to apply for an emergency bridge replacement grant from the federal government, the Idaho Transportation Department said in a news release Thursday.
