Man arrested on drug trafficking charges in traffic stop

A North Dakota man was arrested on drug-trafficking charges on Interstate 86 near American Falls on Tuesday afternoon.

Idaho State Police, the Power County Sheriff’s office, and the Bear River Drug Task Force were independently patrolling Interstate 15 when Idaho State Police pulled over a 2007 Chrysler Town and Country van driven by Michael Torgerson, 26, of Leeds, N.D., for a traffic violation around 2:40 p.m.

ISP said troopers discovered and seized approximately 6 pounds of marijuana.

Torgerson was being held in the Power County jail on charges of trafficking a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.
