Man dies after fall at resort

A man died after falling at Jackson Hole Mountain Resort on Monday.

Around 10:20 a.m., 31-year-old Peiter Swanson fell while skiing in an area called the Parachutes, which is north of the Cirque, and “suffered significant trauma,” the resort said in a news release. Jackson Hole Ski Patrol performed life support.

He was transported to St. John’s Clinic in Teton Village and was pronounced dead around 11 a.m.

Swanson was a part-time resident of the area, the Teton County, Wyo., Sheriff’s Office said.

“The staff at Jackson Hole Mountain Resort join me in expressing our deepest sympathies to the family and friends of the victim,” said Jerry Blann, resort president.
