17-year-old girl killed in crash

A 17-year-old girl was killed in a one-car crash west of Idaho Falls just after midnight Monday morning.

The Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office said the victim’s name is Tiana Hailey Cardona.

Deputies said the girl was among six teenagers in a car that rolled over at 8300 W. 17th St.The vehicle was westbound at a high rate of speed when the driver lost control on the gravel road and rolled.

One girl was thrown from the vehicle.

Cordona was pronounced dead at the crash. The other five were transported to Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center.

A 17-year-old boy was driving the vehicle.After being treated for injuries, the boy was taken into custody on a charge of vehicular manslaughter. He was being held in the 3-B Juvenile Detention Center.

According to the sheriff’s office, speed and alcohol were believed to have contributed to the crash.
