Chobani lays off workers as plant goes into regular operation
Greek yogurt maker Chobani said it is laying off some workers so its south-central Idaho plant can operate as it was originally intended.
“The majority of these positions are temporary support that was initially required to ramp up the facility in its first year,” the company said in a statement.
It did not say how many workers were being laid off.
The plant is changing from four 12-hour shifts, seven-days a week, to a more standard three eight-hour shifts, five days a week, Chobani said.
Chief Marketing and Brand Officer Peter McGuinness said the company’s finances are strong, The Associated Press reported.
