U-2 spy plane flies over Pocatello airport

A U-2 spy plane pilot flew his last flight over the Pocatello Regional Airport on Wednesday.

Major Beau Miller is retiring from the U.S. Air Force after 15 years and soon will be working for the AvCenter located at the airport.

It’s not very common to see a U-2 plane fly at low altitudes because of their main purpose.

“They are a very unique aircraft in that they fly right at the edge of outerspace and the pilots are actually flying in a spacesuit,” said Melvin Wagoner, AvCenter’s Director of Operations.

The jet flew low over the airport twice and then zoomed to 60,000 feet.
