Firth High School athlete, singer wins award
If you go to a basketball game at Firth High School you may see Kylee Bolinder sing the national anthem and play in the girls basketball game. That’s how it is a smaller schools.
“I think sports has been the funnest part,” Bolinder said. “That’s where I’ve made my main memories with all my friends. When you’ve worked hard for something and you can get a win with them and you’re having a great time and it just feels great to know that you’ve accomplished something with your friends that you’ve worked so hard with.”
Bolinder has also enjoyed leadership opportunities as senior class president and service opportunities in Key Club. Bolinder has a perfect 4.0 GPA and a 30 ACT score. She says her secret to good grades is doing all her homework and making sure she understands the material.
“Asking questions is big,” Bolinder said. “I always ask a million questions in class. If I don’t understand something I’m not afraid to say slow down and go over that with me. It’s not being afraid to say that you don’t know something and making sure you understand what the teacher’s talking about.”
Bolinder plans to go to Brigham Young University and major in nursing with an emphasis on neonatall care. She had this advice for other high school students.
“I would say appreciate your parents and what they do for you,” Bolinder said. “As I’m getting closer and closer to graduating, I’m realizing all the things they do for me.”
