Health fair prompts screenings
Some American Falls High School students sponsored a health fair Wednesday for their senior project. Several people took the opportunity to get important screenings.
Joyce Foster was one of those people.
“My girlfriends said ‘You’ve got to do this, you need to do this,’ Foster said. “So that’s why I came.”
She paid to get screened for arthritis, a procedure that’s similar to an ultrasound, just on the wrist. Then she got her carotid artery screening done in a similar fashion on her neck.
Those doing the screening say health fairs usually offer discounted rates for the services, and you get results at the same time. And Foster said she got good news.
“Extremely good news,” she said. “Like I said, I’m short enough as it is. Osteoporosis I don’t have a problem with.”
Foster said she plans on sending her results to her insurance to see what it will cover of the procedures, or provide a discount for the good results.
