Man arrested after threatening police with a taser
A Rexburg man is in jail after threatening police with a taser.
Rexburg Police Captain Randy Lewis said Antonio Yorday E. Hennix, 23, was creating a disturbance in a Tuscany Village apartment at 440 South 2nd West Wednesday. Police were requested to be on stand-by while Hennix was moving his belongings from the apartment.
While police were there, Hennix shouted obscenities at officers and picked up the taser. He dropped the weapon when police commanded him. But, when police were attempting to remove the weapon from the room Hennix charged and struck the officer in an effort to gain control of the taser.
There were no injuries reported.
Hennix was arrested and charged with felony battery on an officer and misdemeanor resisting and obstructing.
Hennix had been released on probation earlier Wednesday after he appeared in court on a charge of possession of marijuana. According to court records, he received a suspended jail sentence for disturbing the peace in another case in 2014.
