Early voting for school levies is underway
Early voting is now underway for five different school elections in Bonneville County. Each of the school districts has some patrons living within the county. The official special election will be held on Tuesday, March 14. Idaho Falls District #91 is seeking a $6,800,000 per year, two-year supplemental levy. If approved, the money could be used for maintenance and operation of existing facilities. Bonneville School District #93 is also seeking approval of a two-year, $5,800,000 per year supplemental maintenance and operation levy. The Ririe Joint School District #252 hopes to pass an $825,000 general obligation bond issue. That funding could be used for remodel or repair of existing buildings, purchase school buses, or improve lighting, heating, ventilation, and sanitation facilities. Ririe School District #252 is also seeking approval of a supplemental levy of $220,000 per year for two years. And, the Soda Springs School District #150, which also includes patrons in Caribou and Bear Lake Counties, hopes to pass a $728,000, one-year supplemental levy. Voters in each of the school districts may vote at Bonneville County Elections at 825 Shoup Avenue. The office will be open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, excluding Presidents’ Day. The last day for in-person early voting will be Friday, March 10. Registered voters may also request an official election ballot by mail. Requests may be faxed, e-mailed, or mailed. The mailing address is Bonneville County Elections, 605 N. Capital Avenue, Idaho Falls, Idaho 83402. Requests must be received by March 3 and include the elector’s name, resident address, mailing address for the ballot, signature, and phone number. Voters will be required to present a valid photo ID or sign a personal identification affidavit.
