University of Utah hands out faulty solar eclipse glasses
Officials are saying to throw out solar eclipse glasses handed out by the University of Utah’s eye center, unless they have a label from the Clark Planetarium on them.
Doctors at the John A. Moran Eye Center on Sunday advised anyone who might have been given the glasses to throw them out ahead of the Aug. 21 solar eclipse after the online retailer Amazon issued a recall.
The eye center gave out 1,000 free glasses and then began selling them for $1.50. People who paid can receive a full refund.
Dr. Jeff Pettey says people should not be able to see anything through the true solar eclipse glasses, except for the sun.
