Woman killed in train crossing crash

A Lava Hot Springs woman was killed Thursday when her 2003 Ford Escape was struck by a train.

Denise L. Clapp, 56, died at the scene of the crash at 8:48 p.m. on Nipper Road near Old Highway 30, northwest of Bancroft, Idaho.

Idaho State Police said she was stopped on the railroad crossing facing northbound, when an eastbound Union Pacific train collided with her vehicle. The vehicle continued down an embankment where it came to rest.

She died at the scene.
