Blackfoot woman dies in Monday afternoon accident

A Blackfoot woman was killed in an accident on Interstate 15 in Fort Hall Monday afternoon.

The Idaho State Police say the accident happened around 1:40 p.m., near milepost 84 or about four miles north of the Fort Hall Casino.

ISP says, “Rosemary Harding, 62, of Blackfoot, was driving southbound on Interstate 15 in a 2014 Nissan Sentra. Harding made an abrupt lane change and was struck from behind by a 2016 Volvo commercial vehicle. Harding’s vehicle went off the road and into the median. The commercial vehicle was driven by Fernando Soares, 34, of Wendell.

Rosemary Harding was ejected and succumbed to her injuries at the scene. Dean Harding, 27, of Blackfoot, Rosemary’s passenger, was transported by ground ambulance to Portneuf Medical Center in Pocatello.

The left lane of travel was blocked for approximately four hours. Next of kin has been notified.”
