Rexburg judge a finalist for Supreme court vacancy

The Idaho Judicial Council has identified four finalists to fill a vacancy on the Idaho Supreme Court.

In no particular order, the list includes Gregory Moeller, Christine M. Salmi, John R. Stegner, and Susan E. Wiebe.

The council identified 14 candidates. That list was paired to the four finalists announced Wednesday after the council conducted personal interviews with each of them.

Moeller is a District Judge of the Seventh Judicial District in Rexburg.

Salmi is a lawyer in private practice in Boise.

Stegner is a District Judge in the Second Judicial District in Moscow.

Wiebe is a District Judge in the Third Judicial District in Fruitland.

The finalist will fill a vacancy created with the retirement of the Honorable Warren E. Jones. His retirement was effective December 31, 2017.

The salary of a Supreme Court Justice is $146,700.
