Construction begins to improve Rexburg roads

Flying rocks, damaged tires, and hazardous road conditions can come as a result of pesky potholes–and the city of Rexburg has a lot of them.

Two road construction projects are already underway in Rexburg, including the reconstruction of roads with potholes that come from frost heaves.

These areas include second east from the railroad tracks to the new Walmart, and a total reconstruction on the south side of town on fifth west.

“It’s challenging this time of year, because sometimes we get snow, and so we’re plowing in the morning, and then by the afternoon we’re trying to go back through and sweep up the sand and salt that we put down to de-ice the roads,” said Keith Davidson, Rexburg public works director.

The city is asking for your help–contact the city office when you’ve spotted a pothole that needs to be filled.
