UPDATE: 2 arrested after police pursuit ends in Blackfoot
UPDATE 6/14/18 10:00 a.m. The Bingham County Sheriff’s Office reports two individuals were arrested after a two-county police pursuit that occurred Wednesday around 5:40 p.m.
The incident started when the Bingham County Sheriff’s Office assisted the Bannock County Sheriff’s Office and the Fort Hall police department in pursuing a wanted person.
Zachary M. Guzman, 25, from Pocatello was driving a 2008 Kia. His passenger Jenawade Apodaca, 25, from Pocatello was also in the vehicle.
Guzman was driving on Sands Road in Fort Hall when the Bingham County Sheriff’s Offset set up a spike strip to attempt to flatten the tires of the vehicle. Guzman attempted to go around the spikes on one occasion and struck a Bingham County patrol car causing several thousand dollars in damage. The Deputy was not in the car at the time of the crash and was not injured.
Guzman traveled into the City of Blackfoot where all of his tires were spiked. He then ran through a fence at the American Legion in Blackfoot and ran from the officers.
Officers late apprehended and arrested both Guzman and Apodaca a short time later.
Guzman was charged with Felony eluding, two counts of Aggravated Assault and resisting and obstructing.
Apodaca was charged with resisting and obstructing.
Both remain in the Bingham County Jail.
Guzman’s vehicle was sealed and transported to Chubbuck Police for processing.

A two-county police chase came to an end in Blackfoot at the Soccer Complex near Mountain View Middle School Wednesday afternoon.
The pursuit started in Bannock County before entering into Bingham County and the city of Blackfoot.
Police say, “Blackfoot City Police assisted Bingham County Sheriff’s Office, Fort Hall Police Department and Bannock County Sheriff’s Office in a pursuit during which a County vehicle was rammed by the suspect. The suspect vehicle sped through the east end of Blackfoot before it was disabled by spike strips. Suspects were pursued on foot and were immediately captured in the surrounding neighborhoods. There are no reported injuries, suspects have been arrested and there is no danger to citizens at this time.”
Several viewers contacted Local News 8 saying the pursuit entered Blackfoot just before 6 p.m. One viewer mentioned the suspect vehicle was riding on its rims before the chase ended. The suspects were in a four-door KIA car.
The names of the suspects have not been released and The exact list of charges are also pending.
